how it started

After moving to the farm in 2017, we knew we wanted our kids to be "Free Range" and grow up with the opportunity to get into whatever it was that tripped their trigger.  Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would start a flower farm.  My grandmother always had this pristine row of zinnias and celosia in her garden that always seemed to be the talk of the town. I thought it would be fun to start something similar to entertain the girls while I was on a summer maternity leave.  There was something about cutting flowers, while the sun was going down and the kids were chasing the glowing fireflies that made me want to figure out how to make this a part of our everyday life.  Fast forward a few years and those few rows of flowers have turned into fields full of flowers.    

In 2021, we  felt the need to share this experience with others.  We opened a U-Pick Field and Sunflower Path not knowing if it would work but as they say..."the seed wont grow if you don't plant it" so we gave it a shot.  We never thought our small 18 acre farm could make such an impact on our amazing and generous community.  Suddenly we felt a part of so many special moments.  We saw couples pick anniversary flowers,  cancer patients get out to feel the sun, young families compile their favorite blooms to brighten their grandmothers day, 1st dates, girls outings, and so much more.  We feel so blessed to see how powerful and restorative simple things like flowers can be when we all stop for 1 second to see the power they have.
